In a recent interview/fan chat with Eurogamer Bungie studios reaffirmed that they, “…have no plans to work on any other platforms beyond 360 at this time.” This may come as no shock to many of you - but the more easliy shaken members of the Halo community have openly expressed fears that Bungie may express its new found freedom and stray from the Xbox 360. Those fears can now be officially put to rest, or taken out back and shot. Whichever works for you.
Other hihlights from the interview include:
- The map Stand Off from the new Halo 3 map pack has “at least two Easter Eggs”, “each one more horrifying than the last”.
- The Halo = No work being done.
- They are not working on anything Marathon-related right now, but “it’s not outwith the bounds of reason that we could revisit it one day”.
- When asked about possibly reselling technology, Barnes said the company was “not interested in focusing on how we can generate the most revenue”.
- Microsoft sets the price for the map packs. So stop whining. (ok I added that last part.)
- Asked about the possibility of multiplayer bots as DLC, Barnes said: “I cannot comment on the plans for Halo 3 at this time outside of the snippets of DLC announcements we’ve already made.”
- Bungie’s involvement in Ensemble Studios’ Halo Wars game has been largely in advising on story and universe.
- Bungie has no current plans to produce a game for Xbox Live Arcade.
All in all, good news for Halo fans.

I think the move for independence had more to do with creating new IP with out the fear of giving that new product up to Microsoft in the event they decided to do some work for another company. I think this would help keep them (Bungie) from limiting creativity.
I’m looking forward to seeing some really cool new games from them. Woot, woot!
